Everybody loves a bright white smile, Just as our hair and skin colour vary, so do our teeth. Very few people have brilliant-white teeth, and your teeth can also become more discoloured as we get older.
Your teeth can also be stained on the surface through food and drinks such as tea, coffee, red wine, betelnut and pan. Smoking and other tobacco products like gutka, pan masala can also stain teeth.
Calculus or tartar can also affect the colour of teeth. Some people may have staining under the surface, which can be caused by certain antibiotics or tiny cracks in the teeth which take up stains.
Superficial stains and tarter can be removed by scaling and polishing. However deeper stains which have percolated the tooth can be removed by bleaching.
Bleaching does not completely change the tooth color it will make the tooth lighter. Bleaching is the most common form of tooth whitening.
Bleaching can be done in the office or as a home bleaching system.
